I bought this for myself for Christmas..http://www.academy.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_10051_409867_-1?N=329211139+4294954343
My wife said I could have anything I wanted as long as it wasn't another gun. I figured that I could buy it now and ask for forgiveness later. Anyway, this is my first 1911 style pistol and is only my second pistol that wasn't a striker fired. I know that it isn't recommended that I fire my striker fired pistols without using snap caps, but I was wondering if it was ok to dry fire my GI Expert. I don't have the chance to go to the range as much as I would like to so I thought that maybe cycling the action a few times would help break it in. I do plan on breaking it down and giving it a thorough cleaning and oiling before I do get some range time with it.
