I bought this for myself for Christmas..http://www.academy.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_10051_409867_-1?N=329211139+4294954343

My wife said I could have anything I wanted as long as it wasn't another gun. I figured that I could buy it now and ask for forgiveness later. Anyway, this is my first 1911 style pistol and is only my second pistol that wasn't a striker fired. I know that it isn't recommended that I fire my striker fired pistols without using snap caps, but I was wondering if it was ok to dry fire my GI Expert. I don't have the chance to go to the range as much as I would like to so I thought that maybe cycling the action a few times would help break it in. I do plan on breaking it down and giving it a thorough cleaning and oiling before I do get some range time with it.

I got a Sentry from Academy. Good price and solid safe, fire rated for 20 minutes. Bolts to the floor.

      Specifially this one.

I'd at least go to a store and look at one. Bass Pro, Lowes, Academy. I looked online alsowhen I was shopping for mine. But its really hard to understand what the dimensions they give you on a web site really translates to as far as how big something really is going to be. Also when I physically saw one that I was looking at I realized that it was way overkill for the number of guns I needed to store.

Also whats the shipping on something like that? That is not going to be dropped off by UPS. I looked atordering one from Liberty but the shipping costs turned me back to the Sentry that was compareable and at Academy. I just borrowed a friends pickup and get it that day and not have to get popped for the shipping.
