I am carrying the 230 hydro shoks if I can handle the 185 +p's would it be a better choice faster but less bullet so would that make it a smaller hole when expanded

I don't think you'll get any consensus on this. But personally; I'd stick with the 230-grainers you have - if they feed reliably and shoot accurately enough for you.

I would study up though - read and study all you can find on the subject. But this one is a good place to start....

You might want to check out the Guns and Ammo Annual article on stopping power. (The Annual was on my newsstand a week ago, more or less.) It isn't the last word in ammo effectiveness, surely, but it has some food for thought.
