How much does being rebuilt through an arsenal hurt the value of a Colt 1911? I am going to go look at a Colt 1911 serial # dates to 1917, arsenal rebuilt according to owner. All numbers match, good condition. Any guestimate on a price range for a gun like this?

All numbers match
You won't find any matching numbers on a 1917-dated military 1911.

As to value, it's impossible to say. In the Northeast, genuine and marked (AA, RIA, etc) arsenal-rebuilt 1911 pistols with 95% or better parkerized finish go for $1000 - 1200.

Post this in the USGI section, they will need pictures though. If it was arsenal rebuilt it should have stamps on it (AA is Augusta Arsenal and is one of the most common). In order to tell you anything though they will need pictures.

No simple answer. Some "rebuilds" were little more than an inspection, and the original gun came out. Some were complete tear-down and reassembly, with parts swapped around and mixes of early and late style parts.

However, compared to a pristine example of, say a 1917 military gun vs. a Parkerized rebuild, it takes off at least 1/2 the price I'd say. One is original and collectible, the other altered and fairly common. And per the forum guidelines, this should be a "USGI" question, not a "Colt." Perhaps ask politely for a moderator to move it for you.
