I can purchase the captioned pistol. It appears to be original and in excellent condition.
My question concerns the slide and frame having different lettering styles, one with serifs and one without serifs. I was told that this is a :"Transitional gun"and correct for this time in 1917. Is this information accurate?
I own P.38s that are transitional guns but I know little about M1911s. I'd hate to make an expensive mistake without checking.
Thanks in advance for any hel;p!

In that range all characters should have serifs.
