I am using the standard factory recoil spring, plug and guiderod in my Scandium Commander. Should I also use a shok buff?

On an unrelated issue, with some mags other than the factory mags and my Wilson mags, the slide doesn not lock back occassionally after the last round. I assume it is magazine related correct? Thanks.

PS: I know there has been a lot of posts on shok buffs in general. I am specifically interested in the pros and cons relative to the Smith and Wesson 1911s, specifically the Scandium models.

Never used shock buffs and don't see a reason to. I've heard of problems with these in commander sized guns, but can't say from experience. 800 rounds through mine now and no problems or signs of excessive wear. As far as your mag problems go, I've never had a hiccup with the Act mags or Les baer mags, all 8 rounders.

Make sure you replace the recoil springs as needed and you should be fine.
