Hi,

How should a 1911 be stored whether in the range bag or in my safe?

Should it be cocked n' locked or hammer down and safety off? It's unloaded out of respect for the roommate.

All mine are packed away in the safe unloaded for obvious reasons, but my home defense piece is kept CnL in a clip holster. That way if something goes bump in the night I can clip it on and go investigate. But I also have no family members who would screw with it either. If you have a roommate my suggestion would be to leave it chamber empty with a loaded mag in place or set nearby.

If you're looking for the proper way to store it (ie, not home defense), I'd suggest hammer down. That way dust and other foreign particles don't get collect in the gun as easily.
