1991 Grip Safety

1090 Views 3 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  10 Ring
Recently, I had a Wilson high ride beavertail installed in my 1991a1. I've detail strippped the pistol for cleaning and after reassembling, the grip safety does not perform properly (it allows the hammer to fall without the GS being depressed). The thumb safety works properly. Where did I go wrong in reassembly? Any help would be appreciated greatly.

Sounds like the "tang" on the grip safety is not interfacing correctly with the back of the trigger bow.

The grip safety tang should physically stop the rearward movement of the trigger. When the grip safety is depressed, the tang moves up out of the way of the trigger bow, and allows the trigger to move rearward.
Thanks for the input. It feels like the grip safety is partially engaged, but when pressure is applied, the trigger bar slides past it. Thanks again for the help.

Sorry, I meant to say trigger bow.
