Is there , or has there ever been a .22LR conversion kit for the High Power?

It seems that this is something that "should" be done, but I have never seen one.

Frankly, this is one thing that got me to go w/ the 1911 .45 , was the availability of conversion kits for more training.

I recall that in the mid-80s, Pachmayr Gunworks was importing the German Peters-Stahl .22 conversion kits for Hi-Powers. The used a fixed barrel system and were of a very high quality. They also made .22 conversions for S+W 9mm autos, the M52 .38spl auto + a kit that enabled conversion of the Sig-Hammerli P240 to 9mm from .38spl/.32 S+W. not sure if they are still in business- I did a google search, and as "Stahl" is German for "steel", I got quite a few hits for German foundries.
I'm kinda getting off topic now...
