Can a .38 Super be converted to a 9mm? And if so, what does this conversion entail? Would such a converted pistol be accurate, if done properly? Also, who currently makes the "best" after-market 9mm 5" 1911 barrels? Thanx.
Generally all you will need is a new barrel. Although the breach face diameter on the 38super is .01 larger than the correct size for the 9mm. In rare circumstances this diameter could be a problem.
I like Schuemannn barrels. Look at the AET barrels they can be very accurate with a wide range of ammo. Many barrels are very accurate with one or two bullets and powders the AET seems to have a wider range of acceptable bullets and powders. They are probably no more accurate than others when they are with the preferred ammo but they seem to be generally more accurate with various ammo
