Is the recoil spring on the 40 cal Defender the same as the Officer's model recoil spring. I looked in the book that comes with the pistol and can not tell. Someone wants to give me an Officer's mod spring but I do not know if it will work correctly. Any other spring differences I should be aware of. Would installing an oversize firing pin stop serve any useful purpose on a Defender? Thanks

Your Defender in 40cal. should have a double spring setup, unless changed by someone. I own 2 Defenders in 40cal., great guns!! You can CUT a Commander recoil spring to the proper length to slide over the captured inner spring/guide rod and it should work fine(18# spring). Depending on what loads that you are using in your Defender, you may have to go up or down on the outer spring tension. I hope that this helps you....Doc
