I'm looking for a source of .45 brass, preferably once fired. .40S&W, .223, etc are easy to find, but I'm having trouble with the .45. Any info would be appreciated. I'm looking for about 3000 - 5000 rounds of good once fired brass. Thanks

LOL Sorry bout that. Thanks for the sources guys. I kinda figured I could count on people here, just like on AR15.com. Looks like I'll be ordering some brass today! Thanks again.

Raid all the indoor ranges nearby. Some don't mind scroungers, some do. They may sell the stuff as well. If you can get it local and avoid shipping charges you are much better off. Gun shows are another place to check locally. They should run about $50 per thousand.

Just got an e-mail from brassman:
$55 per 1000, plus $35 UPS on 3000. That's $200 for 3000, unpolished, just picked up off the floor of range. Seems a tad high to me. There's a gun show in about 2 weeks, so maybe I'll hold off and have something to compare with.
As far as scarfing up other peoples unclaimed brass is concerned, I shoot at a private indoor range owned by my gunclub. It's underground, beneath the banquet hall. Nice to have access and privacy anytime I want it, but everyone reloads, so brass is scarce!
Thanks again for the sources, at least now I have options.

The thing about the Brassman (John) is he's honest and you'll get good stuff. I don't trust brass off of ebay as onced fired and I've bought from an individual from another forum and the brass was all corroded. I buy it all from John now, and it doesn't hurt that he lives right down the road from me. :)

A friend of mine just bought a batch of 1-fired 45acp brass from HQ Brass and was very very happy with it...

I have also bought a batch from Brassman in LV a year or two ago... Again very nice quality but a bit pricey for what I got...I was still happy.

I just bought a big batch of Winchester 1-Fired Brass from a long time, well known vendor on EBay......VERY happy with the quality and price on that deal....

So I guess you can't go wrong with the above as long as you are paying attention and asking questions before paying for it.........

Boy, is this an old thread or what??

3 years and 3 guns later...

Well here we are, almost 3 years later! I noticed this thread with my name on it and burst out laughing. I now own 3 .45's...2 kimbers and and old 70 series Colt. I gave up on used, so called "once fired" brass. Also got tired of all the mixed head stamps. I buy new .45+P Starline brass direct from Starline. It's actually a pretty good deal. I mark them and rotate my stock, so I know exactally how many firings are on them. It might be a bit more expensive to start out, but I know what I got. To me, that's worth it.

I bought 2k from hq brass ($70 delivered) and have been pleased with the results. I wish I would have paid the extra $7 to have them sort it though, would have been well worth it to me.

All in all though, I'm happy with them. (except I'm weird and don't want to reload +p rounds so threw out about 20 cases.)

Ouch! That cut me deep! :hrm:
But for the record...mine say "mostly" once fired and that means 99%. Most of my customers don't reload and the ones who do always pick theirs up. I can guarantee if you buy some of my stuff, then it is what it says.

Later, Theron
