What is a good factory round to hunt deer using a Ruger Blackhawk 7 1/2 barrel? Are Winchester 225 grain silvertips adequate?Shots will probably be less than 50yds in light brush

The silvertips are loaded a little hotter than some of the cowboy loads. Corbon makes some pretty hot hunting loads in .45 Colt. They do a 300gr JSP at a stated 1300fps & 1126ftlbs and a 265gr bonded core HP at a stated 1350fps & 1073ftlbs. I wouldnt want to shoot them out of any pistol though. Ive never found any factory ammo that performed between the Corbons and Silvertips. Good Luck.

Buffalo Bore Bullets produces some strong loadings for the 45 Colt, they are safe in the Blackhawk.
Have a nice day, Rabon...
