anyone enjoy shooting the 480 ruger?
any decent priced factory ammo?

I enjoy the .480 Ruger. It's quite a bit less punishing than the .475 Linebaugh from which it's derived and should be very effective on large game if you stay within reasonable big-bore pistol range. In my 7.5" BFR, it's a bit more accurate also. As a result, I rarely shoot full power Linebaugh loads anymore.

However, inexpensive and .480 Ruger are mutually exclusive. If you want to shoot it a lot, get a large line of credit or turn to reloading.

Basically, the .480 Ruger is the answer to a question that nobody asked, but it's fun if you enjoy hunting with big-bore revolvers.

A .480 limits you to a fairly small selection of mostly expensive ammo.

Selecting a .454 instead gives you a cartridge of similar power, or more, but includes the option of shooting cheaper and readily available .45 Colt ammo for practise.
