So all I want to do is find some clean entertainment for my family. We've been watching 7th Heaven awhile and although a bit hokey, it's clean so the kids can watch. Then of course I just saw the worst. Below is the jist of it. Reading it back, it doesn't look too bad, but the context of it is the good looking young cop setting the old geezer in his place. The cop held a neighborhood watch to fight some petty crimes going on in the neighborhood. Here's pretty much how it went:

Bob: So besides locking our doors and keeping lights on, what else can we do to keep safe?
Bumbling old geezer: what bob is talking about is guns.
Bob: no I’m not
Bumbling old geezer: well then I am
Cop: I don't recommend any of you getting guns
Bumbling old geezer: why not
Cop: the criminal can use your own gun against you
Bumbling old geezer: when what should we do?
Cop: call the police. We are trained to use guns
Bumbling old geezer: oh, yeah. Wait robber until I call the police
Cop: guns aren’t the answer. Here’s my card. It has my cell number, my pager, and my desk number. Anytime of the day or night call me and I will come running.

(They all look around at the geezer. And give him the "cops are here to protect us because we’re too stupid to do it ourselves" look.)

The email to complain is:
[email protected].

Let 'em have it.

7th heaven jumped the shark years ago and is hanging on by its fingernails. The only people who still watch it are the Million SoccerMom Marchers anyway.

Hah! That show has always been a liberal joke. What Christian family would let their kid go be an intern for the Clintons. Remember that one? As soon as I saw that I knew it was PC BS and stopped watching it.

That and almost all the philosophy espoused by the minister in all those little heart to heart talks are new age bullcrap and not biblical in any way.

People who watch TV are stupid enough. People who watch Zellman TV are too stupid to help. What do you expect? Keep your powder dry.

Tell that to the 2 couples in Seattle that got jumped by some hoodlums over the weekend and sent to the hospital while a Cop was less than a block away and when called to help only reluctantly came and barely wouldnt even get out of his patrol car. I guess that the officer was a Lt. and has the "option" of whether or not to intervene. 2 people still in the hospital from this incident, and still nobody has been assigned the case for investigation. No arrests have been made.

Why I almost never go to Seattle / Tacoma, and also the reason I carry. The police are not liable for protecting anyone.

Remember the Fat Tuesday situation? The cops were ordered to sit around and watch all that go down. If I was a Seattle cop I would have gotten another job after that. That was an outrage, a total failure to maintain any semblence of order for the public as a whole and I dont know that they ever had any liability for it.

That was one of the things that happened that got me carrying extra magazines initially.

Ok other than Seattle . Has any one ever heard the saying "There's never a cop around when you need one" . There's a good reason for that even stupid criminals will not attack you if here's a cop around. That's why I don't mind not carrying at the cop shop, every place else is a different story. And BTW how is someone going to use my gun against me if I shoot him first.

I was just using a local example of absolutely insane situations where the Police actually wanted to intervene and help but were specifically told not to by higher ups and still to my knowledge they held no liability for it.

Yeah nobody would ever get away with saying something that illogical in an argument with me because I would instantly say I would shoot them if they tried, and then I would counterattack and ask why the criminal would be trying to take my gun away when they are liable to have a gun themselves. What good is not having a gun so it cant get taken away going to do me in the face of an armed attack?

Im sure not having a gun to get taken away and shot with will be a comforting thought as my attacker riddles me with bullets from his own gun.

I got my CWP traning from a Cop. He told the class that it is up to us to protect ourselves and our family. Not the police.
He was a shining example of a police officer.

here's another VERY RECENT example to add.. it happened in my neck of the woods.. in the Milwaukee, WI area, just a few days ago..

Here are the basics:
- Police are called and arrive on a scene
- Police are told that a woman was just forcibly dragged into an apartment
- Police knock on door, but no one answers
- Police call supervisor for advisement
- Police discuss the legality of forcible entry
- 44 minutes later, the police force their way into the apartment
- It's too late. The woman had been raped while the police were standing outside

if only she had that cop's cell phone and pager number

A similar situation happened here.
-Police are called because gunshots are heard IN the home
-Police knock on door, no one asnwers
-Police call station, ask what to do
-Chief tells them to leave, since no one answered the door
-Chief tells media we had no reason to enter. No probable cause.

By the way, the house has been riddled with problems for over a year.
