I have a 9mm 1911 RIA Tactical that is real fun to shoot. I occasionally have a few failure to feeds where the round gets stuck halfway in the chamber. The mags seem to have a lot of play in them when inserted in the gun, over 1/8 inch. Is this normal? Would a new mag catch help this? If so, which one do you recommend?
Thanks.

Seems like there have been a lot of post about the 9mm. FTF lately, you are using the factory Checkmate Mag. right?

some have been sent a new Mag. catch after calling Shawn at Advance Tactical at 1-775-537-1444. others have used the New 9mm.Mag. from Springfield and they cured the problem. I will try to find the part number for you.... ....they are kind of high priced......:barf: Brand Label..

If you want a mag catch to hold the magazine higher, 10-8 has one that has the ledge 0.010" higher. EGW has one that holds it 0.020" higher. You probably want to make sure that you won't be crashing into the ejector every time you insert the magazine with one of those catches.
An 1/8 of an inch is 0.125", so this will be a modest change.

Links go to the appropriate pages in Brownells.
