Went to Tuan's in Puente Hills, CA. today. Nice place, friendly, knowledgeable, and ultra-helpful staff. I highly recommend it.

Since I bought my 1991A1 there last November (as Gore-wh0re insurance), I thought I might stop by and see what they had.

They had a 1991A1 just like mine but with custom, wraparound grips like the USMC SpecOps .45 has (Pachmeyers?), you know, with the grooves for your fingers on the front strap.

Anyway, the sign in red says, "Law Enforcement Only."

I asked the guys there when/if Colts might be submitted for testing, and the answer was "Never. They don't make enough of them to generate revenue sufficient to bother submitting any." I was further told that my 1991A1 is a "California collector's item."

So, there you have it, guys. Out in these parts, Colts have gone the way of the dinosaurs. I could always get a Kimber or a Springfield, but I'm a Colt kind of guy. You know?

I can only hope Emerson will wipe out what Gay Davis and the Mexican socialists have accomplished here...

Damn shame! I can only hope that as the semi-sane PRK residents flee in great haste to the Great State of Nevada, that they leave such thoughts and practices BEHIND! And no, with the exception of lovely Las Vegas, Nevada has NO state gun registration, and has no sales-limiting practices. I feel for you folks. Just please, keep your liberal neighbors on a mighty chain, and don't allow them to move here. You, of course, are more than welcome any time! C'mon over, the water's fine (well...what little there is of it)!

dpcdivr, with the exception of a private sale. All guns you buy from a dealer are registered. What do you think the backround check is? Please man go with peace and a .45ACP in Colt. And all that info on the backround, you think its just thrown away? Common man its ok to be wrong sometimes. I am wrong sometimes too.

Up in Canada I was told that Colt is NOT accepting new orders, and my only chance of finding something was to hope a dealer had one on the shelf.

Hmmm, that's a complete and total lie Doc. I just talked to CA-DOJ and they said Colt has submitted around 5-6 guns and they will be on the "list" in 1-2 weeks. Also, Mark656 I think his name is, has said that Colt submitted various models for CA, and he works for Colt! That's what this new law was made to do, confuse everyone!

Rz:
Form 4473 is a Federal form, not a State registration, albeit dealer is supposed to keep a copy on file. Las Vegas (actually Clark Co.) has had handgun registration since the 1930's, but remainder of Nevada has nothing. Private sales are unrestricted up here, also.

well well Johnny, I see you really keep up to the boards on this site. My name is Mark, General Foreman of Handguns Colt, been spreading the word on this site for a month or so. The Line you got was BULL, the list given is totally accurate. If you go back a few weeks and look into "Questions about Colt" you will see the answers....

Mark 655:

I don't watch the boards too closely, as the response rates are a little slower than what I'm used to. But I should. Also, I just recently "checked in" to the Colt Board.

191145 (& all, especially Mark 655):

I sincerely hope nobody's accusing me of lying; I'm only repeating what I was told at Tuan's, that's all. I didn't ask here because I figured someone already had and I just hadn't found the thread yet (which turns out to be the case, as I now see).

I didn't mean to start a ruckus or a controversy; I was just passing along what I was told. Until I read your replies I didn't know any different. Sorry if I stirred anyone up, but that was not the intent. Honest.

I am very glad to discover that the info I received was bad. FYI, I didn't get the guy's name, but when I told him about AB 35 he knew nothing about that. I was sort of shocked that a CA dealer wouldn't be up to speed on stuff like that, seeing as how it affects their livelihood and all. Very strange.

Again, sorry about the mixup; I didn't know.

P.S., any chances the Gold Cup or Special Combat Government will get tested? I'd sure like one of each!
