I purchased a Series 80 and got a parts gun. The hammer was PO. The slide is marked Government Combat Model it is not deeply blued. The barrel has a collet type bushing.

The frame is deeply blued having serration on the front strap. Number FG27431.

Slide to frame fit is poor in the .45 set up. My S70 .38S Commander slide is tight though so I think the frame rails are ok. The poor contact comming from the slide.

Now to the point! Can anyone tell me about this frame? A bit of history? Clues as to which .22 unit is best for the transformation. Thanks Teal Blue.
