I am thinking of purchasing a Marlin 2000L Target Rifle (.22cal) can anyone give some feedback on this American made rifle. How good is the trigger ? How good does the shots group? What kind of ammo does it like?
At what distance do you shoot?

Thanks !! Paul

Paul - I have a 2000L with the biathlon kit and like it a lot. The trigger on mine is not what I would call target grade - it's 2-3/4 lbs with some creep. The bolt is kinda stiff at first but gets smoother with use. The sights are pretty good (Williams peep setup) and the front globe sight comes with 10 (I think) inserts. It has an adjustable buttplate that is nice as I can remove it so that my 5 year old daughter can shoot it. I shoot it at fifty yards and shoot about 1" groups from sitting and prone positions (I am not a great shot), but from the bench the groups shrink to 1/2" or less. I have tried many different types of ammo and there were no big differences. To date I have tried RWS, Fiocchi Match, Federal Target, Green Tag, PMC Target, Russian Match (Jr), and lately I have been using Wolf Match ammo. The Wolf ammo is a good bargain - I ordered a couple of bricks from Dillon for $16 a brick. I bought this rifle because it was fairly cheap($368) compared to other target 22s, and it allows me to practice more and economically. Hope this helps.
