Hello,
I'm thinking about buying a new 1911. I don't have the kind of moneyt that it takes to buy a colt, kimber, springfield etc...
I ran across an ad in my local papger for a gun shop that was selling Rock Island Arsenal .45 1911 A1 for $389.95. I was hoping that maybe someone here might have some feed back the only other 1911 that I've owned was a Norico and I really enjoyed it. Wish that I'd never parted with it but I did and now I can't find them our here in CA anywhere.

Well try posting in general for a question like yours for one thing. And if you don't have much money to part with I recommend a 1991 Colt used. A fantastic weapon with an icon title. Don't even think Springfield or Kimber are good unless you already have at least two Colts. I'm not telling you what to do, just recommending bro. I don't want to part with weapons, as its a bad experience for life.

Well if you want to purchase another Norinco I will email you a dealer that still has a few brand new ones (im at work). That is if you can import them into your socialist republic

If you are not bent on new, check out threads on the systema colt modelo 1927. Cheap, factory refinished, and good shooters from what I hear.

The current cheap Rock Island Arsenal .45s are made in the Phillipines, reportedly by the same outfit as Charles Daly. NO connection with the US arsenal at that site. Good luck.
