what exact rifle is it? might be cheaper and easier to replace the barrel.

I don't think you necessarily need an "AR" gunsmith, a 'specialist'... any competent gunsmith should be able to thread a barrel. Removal and installation of barrels is not at all difficult; its easily accomplished by the home assembler with the correct tools.

Bottom line, search for gunsmiths in your area, and talk to them. Anyone who offers threading services should be able to accomplish this.

Unless you have a "premium" quality barrel that shoots very small groups, you may be money ahead selling your post ban barrel to someone in a state that still requires them and buying a new threaded barrel.

Thanks guys. Got a pm and someone recommend DSarms near me. Contacted the owner, really nice guy. Said roughly $80 to thread.

N2Oiroc it's a colt match 20inch. Nothing special bought it 13 years ago for $700. Couldn't pass that deal back then. For $80 to thread, I doubt il find a decent barrel for that price.

Nolt- heard ADCO is top notch but shipping both ways wasn't worth it.

Thanks again guys, I haven't been on for quite sometime. I used to shoot 5k rounds a week but with 2 kids, i am now a flag football and soccer coach :bawling::bawling:
