Has anyone heard of Atlantic Firearms' AR 15 M4 which they claim is California legal? It s chambered in 223 and doesn't have detachable magazines. http://www.gunsamerica.com/guns/976410435.htm
How reliable is this rifle? From my limited knowledge of the state law, pistol grips which protudes from the stock of centerfire rifles are also considered assault weapon.

Anyone in Cali bought this Cali legal approved (?) AR15?

TIA,
vega

It's legal because it doesn't have a detachable mag. It's really stupid and waste of money. To load it, you need to break the gun open with the takedown pin. If you get a double feed jam, which occurs quite often with this setup, your screwed. It'll take two people to clear the jam. One to hold the bolt back because you can't lock the bolt back. The other person has to go in with pliers and fingers to hold the rounds in the mag down and also to pull the jammed rounds out.

I wouldn't take one even if you gave it to me.
