AR15.com did a Limited Edition Group Purchase last spring and offered a Custom Rock River AR15.

Now, they have a Handgun website, and are discussing offering a LEGP 1911, maybe from Rock River as well... I think I might be interested... Thought I would pass this along to our members here...

I'm interested. But the question is, jaydee, will it be CA legal?

I have been in contact with AntiUSSA, and LordTrader, the 2 guys who seem to be involved in the project.

One thing we will be working on is ensuring that the choice is something that can be purchased in CA.

When they did the LEGP Rifle's, the left out everyone in CA, and there were many, unhappy people. Obviously, we had no control on that one, AR's were gone, completely!

The Pistol can be built, and based on an Approved model. I am going to see if we can get RRA to build this one as well. RRA did the LEGP M4 for the Ar forum, and really produced a solid winner! They also make some of the finer 1911's, so the match-up would be perfect.

There is another thought as well... Doing OUR OWN version of the LEGP... One for the 1911 Forum!

We'll be looking hard at that possibility as well, since they will be working on a Source. I would thing we could get a run done with our Logo easily enough.

I'll keep everyone posted...

It looks like they are getting closer to what a 1911 should be (no bubble wrap grips or light rails). It will be interesting to see who they get to make them. I noticed a lot of complaints about the price on the AR15 board, but I'd just as soon get a nicer expensive one than a $300, that I have to smith before it becomes reliable and accurate.

Well... Sadly, most of those who would complain think they can get something equal for less, but when pressed to disclose the source, can't seem to corroborate it.

I spoke with Tim (antiUSSA) earlier, and has definately decided on spec'ing a PRK Legal, Springfield Loaded - Parkerized 45acp.

Price has not been finalized, but it should be competitive with any other Distributor's pricing, I would be guessing in the ~$600 range (+/-$50-75), but the details will be determined very soon.

He was wondering if the Member's here might have an interest.

I need to find out from Jason if it's okay with him to use the name, maybe the logo, but what I would like to do (and this IS VERY Do-Able) is to have a 1911Forum.com version. The gun's would essentially be the same, EXCEPT, for the engraving.

I would imagine that most of the member's here, would MUCH prefer "1911Forum.com" to "AR15.com" on their Limited Edition 1911. Also need to find out from Tim if there might be any special "Serializing"...

What I need to figure out is if this is even worth pursuing... If this is anything like the Rifle was, it will be pretty Man-Intensive, really, a Thankless Job, but we have someone willing to do this... We just need to let him know if there's some interest.

So... Who would be interested? I know I'd be up for at least one...

It's taken a hell of a lot of work over the past few days, but we've got it nailed down!

This will be a parkerized Springfield "PX9019L", with the Novak night sights.
It actually sounds REALLY Good!

For those here in the local area (SillyCon Valley), I will see if I can line up an FFL that will keep the Transfer fee's to a minimum... DROS will still be required, but then, you'd pay that anyway with a regular purchase.

Tim... Couple questions...

Will there be a special Serial Number sequence like the LEGP rifles?

Will first Priority for "AR15.com" engraved pistol's be given to LEGP owner's to "match numbers"?

If we have Jason's Blessing to use 1911Forum.com (and I don't see any reason why we wouldn't) for the engraving, the Number Sequence shouldn't make any difference. (so I want a low number
)

Will there be other "Accessories" or Option Upgrades available, like with the LEGP Rifle's?

The "AR15.COM LEGP" guys will have their assigned LEGP issue numbers on their 1911's.

If Jason allows the use of "1911 FORUMS.COM", then those will begin numbering with "1". The way I assign numbers, is on a first come, first served basis. I will need to have an email from him authorizing the use of his name though.

Also, I will begin accepting orders very early next week, as soon as I re-program my website to include these. Given Jasons' permission, there will be a location to indicate the preferred style of engraving (AR15.COM or 1911 FORUMS.COM). Being that these will be engraved slides, I am using text only, no logos!

The current LEGP guys will have an area to input their existing numbers, so that all of the LEGP purchases match...

I work to hard for you guys!

Is this SA a basic Loaded, or does it have any different bell's and whistle's. The one in the picture has a stainless barrel and looks like the bushing is stainless as well. My Loaded does not have this feature, or atleast the bushing. I have a blue 2001 model.

Basically... This will be your Basic Springfield 1911 "Loaded" model, with Parkerized finish, and "Custom Engraved" with AR15.com, or (hopefully, with Jason's approval) 1911Forum.com and the Special Serial number of the series, and most likely "Limited Edition Group Purchase" much like the Rifle that was offered on the AR15.com website.

The pistol will have the Novak Tritium's, but apart from that, will be your standard feature set for the Springfield Loaded's, model PX9019L.

I will be looking to see if we can add an Accessory/Option package, much like the Rifle had but much will depend on the response from our members here.

Consider that this LEGP 1911 that Tim has come up with is slight less expensive than the LEGP Rock River AR15, and that the AR15.com members purchased over 300 unit's... The AR board has more members, but if we could do 50-100, it could be a very unique, a special edition, that might not ever be offered again... Food for thought...

One thing that I am not clear on as far as the engraving goes: Does the slide still have the factory marks on it, i.e. Springfield Armory, on one side and 1911 A1 on the other? I assume the slide is part to be engraved and not the frame, but I may not have read the description clearly.

Any word if the SA ILS mainspring housing will be used? I'm simply curious, as it is not a big deal to replace it but the ILS makes detail stripping less convenient.

In any case, count me in! It's not like I need much of an excuse to buy another 1911
