Well, you can remove and install the hammer without removing the mainspring housing, but it is doing things the hard way. Normally, the MSH is removed, then the sear (three leaf) spring, then the grip safety, hammer, and the other parts. To reassemble, install the disconncector and sear, hammer, and sear spring in that order. Then slip the MSH part way up to hold the sear spring in place, then install the grip safety, and push the MSH the rest of the way in and replace the MSH pin.
