Had a private training session with a client yesterday. His pistol was an old Auto-Ordinance GI .45 that had been found under the ejection seat of an F-4 Phantom back in the early 70's.
I had expected problems, so had brought a spare 1911 of mine...just incase. No need. All safeties functioned and the weapon ran flawlessly...in spite of being a little dirty. Several hundred rounds of ball ammo later it was still doing fine.
Upon instpection it looked like it had been throated at some point, trigger was good, etc. It may have had a basic reliability package done at some time...who knows.
Needless to say, I was impressed and my student now has proper trainging to use and carry the big 1911. It appears to be a sound weapon that he can trust. Does it get better than that?
