Hey, all. I registered for this forum specifically to ask this question because this seems like the best place to ask. An Auto Ordnance 1911 government model .45 has a magazine release that keeps working itself free -- meaning that after pressing the mag release several times, suddenly the mag release will stop working -- turn the gun over and what you find is that the release has worked itself out. Pop it back in with your fringer and it will work some more, but the process repeats itself. I've tried removing it and then reinserting it but this hasn't helped.
My question is, will replacing the release, lock pin, and spring (dropping in a whole new unit) likely fix this problem? Could it be the lock pin spring alone?
