Was looking thru a Brownells catolog the other day and it showed a Springfield replacement barrel, 5in. And it stated," fits Springfield slides only". What does Springfield do different in their guns vs. others for slide to barrel fit?
I don't have a clue what the difference is, but I put one of those bbls. in a pistol I built up from spare parts, used a Dwyer Group Gripper in it, and it functions fine...with my reloads gives 2 1/2 groups at 5o ft.
S/A 9mm barrels have a narrow, short hood, very different from a Colt. The barrel will go in a Colt slide but the hood will not touch on any dimension. Headspace will be high.
I don't know about S/A Super barrels.
S/A .45 barrels are of standard shape and close in dimensions.
