Barrel throating used on the new Colt 1991s

What do you guys think of the barrel throating used on the new Colt 1991 / Government Models?

Its rather unique and non-conventional with the small “trough” cut tin the barrel ramp, and the very slight step between the frame ramp and the barrel ramp (of the 8 or 9 new guns I’ve worked with, the biggest gap was only about .012”. Functioning of the arrangement has been flawless with various bullet profiles (all I’ve done is put a mirror polish on the barrel and frame ramps).

Just curious about your opinions regarding the topic…..

This topic has been covered before, and the consensus seems to be, "Yeah, it looks weird, but it works fine."

First looking at it, you wonder how it could possibly be reliable, but I've done nothing at all to mine, and they have worked flawlessly.
