I have a mil-spec that I bought new in March (2000 model) and have about 7 to 8 hundred rounds thru it.The top of the barrel is showing signs of some sort of wear on it,is this normal? This is my only pistol so I can't really compare it to anything else.
This is the only place that is showing (thru ejection port)

thanks

Perfectly normal. The top of the barrel "hood" contacts the slide when it recoils, and may also be rubbing slightly as it comes back into battery. As long as everything else functions properly, it is fine.

It might not hurt to put a drop of oil on the barrel hood and cycle the slide manually (with the mag out and the chamber empty) a few times before firing either.

Find the local 1911 smith and have it checked. If oyu're not comfortable with that, remember it's under warranty and contact SA and ask them for help...
