BBR 3.10 Short & Fat.

While surfing the Webernets, I came across an item in stock that I previously thought that was made from Unabtainium.

I of course immediately checked the funds in my “have to have” secret cash stash, & had enough to order said item.

Well two weeks later (there was a discrepancy in the sellers records and the new address of my go to FFL when they sent their information for my order, my FFL moved 3 doors down in the shopping strip to a bigger section.) I picked my BBR 3.10 Friday.

I immediately noticed that there was some differences. Here is a link to the RIA site with the spec sheet for the model in question (51577).

https://armscor.com/files/51577---Rock-Ultra-CS-3.10_2019.jpg

I noticed that there was only one magazine included in the case. All the online reviews (written & Video) claimed that they had gotten two magazines in the case.

Also I noticed that there was no fiber optic front sight (as stated in the RIA spec sheet), just a serrated ramped front sight in black.

And finally the short 3.10” barrel and slide is ported ! Three ports on the barrel itself, and three ports on the slide to allow the ports on the barrel to vent out.

I am wondering how much the porting is going to affect muzzle velocity as the 3” barrel is going to lose some velocity as it is.

I wrote an email to RIA, and got a response today. Basically it said that these changes, front sight and porting, were made due to a factory recall to improve reliability.

I will get to the range as soon as I can to tell you all how it runs with hard ball and my preferred carry Ammo.

Well, this has been a long write up, so here are the pictures you are screaming at me to shut up and get to......

Also....for the love, does anyone know where to get a couple 3 or 4 extra magazines for this thing?
Howdy. Took me a while to find 'em, but here they are.

Oh boo hoo hoo, we all should have such first world problems to deal with....

;)

Looks good with the Holosun mounted. (y)

You can also get them here - RIA 3.10 - 45 ACP - 10rnd - Blued Finish - MEC-GAR (advancedtactical.com) . Ironically, the one I got with the gun just won't accept the 10th round but the two I bought here take it with no problem

Thanks for that. I looked at that site first, but somehow missed it...going blind and getting feeble.
Odd that the mags would behave that way, or no? AdvancedTactical lists theirs as MecGar, while Greg Cote claims-
*Model: ARMSCOR 1029RW
*Manufactured by: Armscor - Rock Island Armor
I hope tuff-to-stuff isn't the norm with factory mags.

Advanced Tactical may be a part of Armscor, not positive about that, but Armscor customer service sent me there for my extra magazines.

Well, hopefully, Greg Cote is just using the Armscor part # like some of the other vendors who are actually selling MecGar. Does your factory supplied mag have any markings?

There aren't any markings at all. These are the three I have, one of them came with the gun.

Yep,
Get the Wolff extra power springs for the P-13 mags, it made my P-13 mags reliable.
I want this upgrade. Do you consider them reliable enough for EDC?

Hmm. Has the one gotten any easier to fill? Have you opened them to compare the springs?
I did open all of them to add the extended grip but, to be honest, I didn't compare the springs. I only shoot two mags at a time at the range and I just reach into my bag and grab two. I may be using the original that was a problem at first when I do that, it's hard to tell because you can't tell them apart. I just loaded all three of them and they all took 10 rounds.

Glad to hear that. I've got two mags and the grip extensions on the way... give me something to play with until the Beeber (someone said it needed a name) gets here next week.
To the mag discussion, I also ordered and modified a pair of P13 mags. One is 100%, but the second ftf's 'cause it lets rounds nose dive into the feed ramp. And, I'll see about getting some extra power springs to get it running right.
Any further results on the P13 mag mod?
New guy here, to this forum, as least. Just purchased a BBR 3.10, the magazine that came with it had a mec gar base plate and had llama 45 stamped on it. I ordered the Pearce finger plate , went on great, also put on the para p-10 grips from Hogue, wow what a difference

Howdy and welcome! Thanks for that info. I ordered the Pearce and after watching a video, ordered the Hogue, too. Are you going to try the P-13 mag mod?

If you find yourself in need of a leather holster I have both IWB and OWB Craft holsters I cannot use because I added a Holosun optic. Let me know if you're interested and I will give you my e-mail address to discuss.

Another update,

I played around with the P-13 magazines and got one to work properly, to seat, hand cycle rounds through the BBR 3.10 and lock back on an empty magazine.

First I had to cut the mag catch notch a little higher.

One on the right in the pictures

Then trim the grip collar to fit the profile of the BBR 3.10 frame bottom.

Now it fit great with a full 13 rounds in the magazine on a closed slide.

Now to get the other one altered to work too.
Nice work !

Did the same with the P-13 mag and had a 3d sleeve extension printed. A year or so ago I did the same but trimmed the original P-13 Warthog mag sleeve.

I’ve read a post, don’t remember who wrote it, about the magazines being hard to load, and another post about factory magazines not being able to get the 10th. round into It.
First, go one of the surplus parts sellers and get a M3 grease gun magazine loader, it will save your fingers & thumbs loading high capacity magazines for 45 ACP.
As you can see, I found a picture on an auction site. The ones I purchased only cost $7 and change + shipping. I sanded the surface rust off and rattle canned them flat black. And still have less than half the price of one of those name brand “LuLu“ mag loaders.

And as far as the OEM magazine not fitting 10 rounds, one of the original (the one that came with the pistol) and the two from Advanced tactical, one has the same problem, it is very difficult to get the last round in.
I think it was the one that came with the pistol, but I can’t be sure because I didn’t mark them until I noticed
The problem, and by then I couldn’t tell which was which.
Now I have marked it and it is only a range magazine, and is still difficult to get ##10 in it.

Sorry for the late addition , when you work for the other guy, overtime is inevitable. I can get 10 rounds in 3 magazines that I have, one that came with the pistol, and 2 I bought from another source, but with 10 rounds in the mags, they will not go into the gun, 9 rounds work fine, 10 nada. I guess 9 + 1 should stop anything, but still. I'm still working on this and will post up additions, probably after Christmas, Best wishes to all.

do you have
The one that is included When you buy the P13 magazine with the collar adaptor for the P10/Warthog from CDNN , it takes up the space between the bottom of the Wart Hog/P10 frame and the top of the magazine base plate,
Do you have pics with hogue grips and xd finger extension?
