Both good names. At that price point, the choices are more than hobbiest vices. If a swivel base is important then the Columbian is the choice. Believe the Yost is a slightly stronger part.

GEEZ!! I didn't know there were $500 vises. My old vise cost me $30 years ago. Has swivel base (very handy), a hammering surface and removable jaw pieces. Holy Crap! $500, really?
Don't overlook the used market. The older US made vises can be a very good buy, Wilton brand comes to mind. The vise I use daily is probably close to 100 years old and is much better than a new Chinese made one.
Just for fun I checked 3 C/L sites within 250 miles of me and found more than a dozen vises 4" or larger. Craftsman, Wilton and Rock Island were some of the makers. Many under $100, All under $400.
Try hitting up some garage sales or flea markets. I picked up a beast of Wilton vice at a large flee market quite a few years ago. It was a little beat-up looking, but I took a wire wheel to it, sprayed on a coat of primer, followed with a heavy coat of crinkle black engine enamel paint, put in the sun for awhile and it turned out nice.
Wilton 69999 at Northern Tools. 5 inch, swivel and rotating. Not monster, not made here, but just fine for hobbyist. If your working on auto, truck, tank, train it is too light. You can have it and 5 different jaws for under $500. I wanted the monster made in USA, and I will get one, but wanted my bench in service first. The USA Wilton that rotate are pricy and huge.
Geez. I feel foolish for buying a 5" swivel vice at Sears years ago, for a tenth of the OP's budget. I did blow five bucks on a set of non-marring jaws and another five on some leather scraps, but I'm beginning to wonder how I could even think of doing good work with it.
Claz.org gives you choices to search Craig's List for parts within a millage range. I Purchased a clean Wilton that came from an employee of Bethlehem steel for 125.00
Ebay as well, but Shipping can add up on heavy stuff. You can search with your zip code on ebay as well to keep it local.
