Breaking the sharp edges

897 Views 0 Replies 1 Participant Last post by  Whit
I am the proud owner of two recent .45 ACP Colt 1911's, a Defender and a Government Model XS. While I really like them, both have rather sharp edges, especially the slides. Anyone had any experience with "melting" the edges themselves rather than paying a smith to do it? What did you use to accomplish breaking the sharp edges (some type of stone or file)? How did you do it (maintain a correct angle) and cosmetically did it turn out OK (what did you use to clean up any marks you might have made)?
