C.C.O shooting low!

1274 Views 5 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  greysky
Hello all, my Colt C.C.O. is shooting about 3inches low at 15 yards. I have shot both defense and the 200gr SWCL at 800ft/sec; and the impact for both is the same "low". Got a guru at the range to try and he shot to the same place, "3 inches low at 25 yds. It does this with any ammo involved. He said "I would have to replace the front site with taller site". The sites on this pistol are factory and non adjustable, and I do like the sites and I hate to change the original pistol. It doesnt look like Hienie's or Novak's would fit this particular site arrangement. Any help, suggestions, or simply a reply is appreciated. Sincere thanks Greysky

Your guru needs to go back up the mountain he came from, and meditate a bit more. Replacing with a higher sight will only make POI lower!

If you don't want to switch front sights to a LOWER one, you can file the front post down a little at a time, and test. Once you're hitting where you want, touch up the sight with cold blue.

Shane is absolutely CORRECT!

Consider a "corrective" or "compensated hold" to raise POI up, what do you see? More of the front blade, above the ear's of the rear... File that puppy down...

Enjoy!

I had the same problem on my Commander after I had Irv install one of his Bar-Sto barrels in it. The fitted barrel just locked up better and POI was 3-4 inches below POA. Couldn't file the sight because of tritium insert in the Novak post. Sent back to have shorter post installed.

Couldn't believe what I was reading when I read the initial post. Hope he hasn't been guruing very long.

Steve
