I want to take apart some factory rounds for inspection. Anyone know the best way to do this?

Thanks, Tom

No difference between reloads and factory ammo as far as I know. Powder may be compressed but thats the only difference.

Should be able to just use a bullet puller and remove the bullet.

As long as there is no spark you shouldn't have a problem.

Yeah, what they said. Buy a bullet puller from Dillon or Midway. Great tool to have around the reloading bench.

TomP, get a bullet puller from Midway. Looks like a big plastic hammer with a hollow head. The April 2001 catalog had one for $10.99.

The biggest difference for me is that I usually have to break the seal on the factory round before I can pull it using the bullet puller. I do this by pushing the bullet in (slightly) with the seating die.

The factory bullets don't disassembly very well for me unless I do this.

YMMV
