First i would like to say i am very happy to join this forum it is a excellent resource of knowledge.

This hammer has a strange side strut on it, never seen one before. anyone have any information on it? the bad quality is due to it being my webcam does not seem to do closeups very well. Thanks any help is appreciated.

That appears to be a hammer for the ODI Viking.
It was a DA/SA version of the 1911, sold with the patented Seecamp DA conversion built-in.
The extended pin would be hooked on the trigger draw-bar that ran along the right side of the frame, covered by a sheet-metal plate.

Good catch Rick, I think you're right.

The pistol is a Seecamp, isn't it? Thought ODIs were all stainless
