Just took apart my Kimber Classic 7 round factory mag for cleaning. Now, I can get 7 rounds to go in it. The mag hasn't been left loaded since new, only during range sessions has the may been loaded. It took seven rounds on those sessions. What I trying to say is; the mag is still new. What gives? I believe I assembled it correctly. Help! JohnH

Never mind! I turned the spring around and everything is fine now. The spring goes in just the opposite from what you'd think. If your wondering why I didn't notice this when I took it apart; the spring flew out of the mag before I could examine it. JohnH

Somewhere in my garage is a spring "shim" from the Makarov mag that flew apart on me. Online gun disassembly instructions are peppered with "Don't let the *&$%$! spring fly away when you undo this part!"

The other one I see a lot is: "Look at the relationship of the parts before disassembly."

Hard to do that when the damned parts are airborne.
