I recently joined 1911 Forum. I submitted my first thread in the "Colt Mfg." section but it was not actually posted. Do I need a membership to post stuff?

No. You just need to have your first post moderated. Keeps out spammers.

Go to the sub-forum you'd like to post in.
Scroll up to the top of the page showing all the existing threads.
At the top of the list of existing threads, on the left hand side is box that says "new thread".
Click on it.
