making your own case lube...
Thanks for the reply. Looks like I'll need to order some stuff to make my own case lube. Should be much more economical in the long run.
I make my own case lube. I do a search on-line for "Best price on 4oz bottle of liquid lanolin" and "Best price on 99% rubbing alcohol."
The last time I ordered the components, the cost savings was substantial compared to purchasing a 10oz. spray can of Hornady's One Shot case lube which retails at Walmart for about $15.50.
I use an 8:1 ratio of 99% alcohol to liquid lanolin. I purchased four 16 oz. bottles of Swann's 99% alcohol, and two 4oz bottles of liquid lanolin. I mix two ounces of liquid lanolin with one 16 oz. bottle of the alcohol in a large spray bottle......between reloading sessions, the lanolin will settle to the bottom of the spray bottle, so I shake it vigorously for a few seconds before spraying my brass.... it drys within 5-10 minutes, then I place the lubed cases in my Dillon case feeder hopper....
A 10oz spray can of Hornady One Shot has an average retail cost of $1.55/ounce. The case lube I make and use with a spray bottle is $ .43/ounce, which is about 1/3 the cost per oz. compared to the Hornady product......and mixing 4- 16 oz bottle of alcohol with two 4oz. bottle of liquid lanolin lasts about 2+ years even when reloading and lubing 15K cases per year....!!!
