CASPIAN ??

Dear members,
I was at a gun show this past Sunday and found a Caspian frame and slide (full size grip, 4.25 barrel). Frame is checkered (30 lpi), Novak sights black on black, Ed Brown grip safety, Smith & Alexander mag well, trigger is about 3.75- 4.0 lbs, barrel is Nowlin 45cal. Finish is blue. Cosmetically perfect. This weapon was purchased from a collection of guns from a gunsmith in default in the Arkansas area (name unknown).
What is this weapon worth or what is a fair price to pay?

You can take a look at...

www.caspianarmsltd.com/

or check a Brownell`s catalog too find out the prices of all the parts needed too build this pistol, and go from there.
Caspian as you know does not produce complete guns, only parts.
The gun is as good as the quality of the parts (caspian being at the top)
and the internals and barrel.
AND the guy that put the gun together.
If you have a good base understanding of the 45, what wears out, how a well fitted gun works or have a friend that does great.
The Reputation of the guy that put the gun together can Command Much more, or hurt the value of the gun depending.

Hope this helps

It pretty much sounds like the best of everything...that is if it was built right. does it fire from half cock, or out of battery? Thats all I'd worry about if it was giong to be a steal. If the guy's really holding out, I'd pass. I'd offer seven, just to see if he falls out of his chair; then go from there. I definately don't pay over a thousand, unless it says LA VICKERS, or LES BAER on the slide.
PLEASE TELL that was NOT From Steve Clark Custom! Is it matte Hard Chrome lower? Tulip Wood Grips? That almost sounds like my gun that dip**** ran off with of mine!

Negative, weapon is a very dull dark blue black finish top and bottom.
New 1911 Addict: You did tell the ATF your gun was stolen and Steve Clark Custom was the person that had it last, right? ATF loves to bust FFLs, sometimes thats to our advantage.

Kharn
Unfortenly not
I will have to work on that, though. Thanks for the idea!
