I picked up 2 7-rd Chip McCormick mags today for my SA Ultra Compact V10 SS. I have been having bad feeding problems since day one with this gun.

the magazines fixed all of that, and I coulodn't be happier. I went with these magazines because they were the only mags the shop had for my gun (Colt Officers, Para compact, SA Compact). I am impressed.

now.. how do the McCormick mags stack up against some of the hige end Mags like the wilsons? Or are they on the same level? Just never heard of them before and wanted some background on them.

Yeah, I have no problems with my CMC Powermags. Many use CMC, and don't report problems with them. Many pipe in for wilson, yeah whatever, if it's working why? Some 1911's are finicky and work better with certain magazines. Wilsons may be considered the best mag, but not necessarily best for your gun. Use what works, and since you've found it, I wouldn't look anymore. Certain names carry a lot of weight in many circles, especially in the gun world. Don't think I have to spend more than I have to for the best, maybe for some things that you have to, but if not, don't!

I think the Shooting Star design has been around longer than the Wilson - and Wilson has changed his mags two or three times since, while a new SS looks pretty much like the Devel mags of fifteen years ago. Wilson may have the best material and tightest tolerances, but I've been getting exceptional service from my Shooting Stars, and they cost only $11.

I may be the exception to the above but...

When I took delivery of my new Defender I bought two Wilson mags and two CMC mags for evaluation. Well the Wilson's have had no problems, but with CMC mags I have had 7 stove pipes on the last round between the two mags. That's after a little over 600 rounds. The stove pipes were with lead ball type, plated SWC & FMJ ball type ammo. I know the Wilson's are more money, but I'll probably keep the CMC's reserved for range work and carry Wilson's

Well pumped 200 rounds through the new Shooting Stars today for the first time.

flawless feeding, not one single misfeed on first round, and no feed errors PERIOD the rest of the way,.

The stockers would misload the first round 3 out of 5 times, as well as bugger up the last two rounds in the stack 4 out of 5 times.

I must say 2 thunbs up for them. There may be better out there, but it's hard to beat perfect. Stainless and perfect is stainless and perfect regardless of the name stamped on it.

I am just happy it was the mags and not the gun

Ditto, "imashooter2." my CMC stainless mags have been absolutely flawless for going on three years shooting most in my Kimbers. I have twelve of them, (CMC mags, that is) and 4 Wilson's, and if I needed another mag, I would go straight for a Shooting Star. I find them 100% dependable so far, and have shot several thousand rounds through them. Just clean them occasionally and that is all they need. I shoot mostly FMJ or JHP, and some RN plated, but have also shot quiet a bit of lead. They take whatever I put in them, and feed through my Kimber perfectly every time. They don't cost an arm and a leg, etiher.
