Where is a good source to find Colt factory mags. I haven't had been able to get in contact with Colt, but have seen a few advertised in the Shotgun news as factory production w/o the stamp et al. I want 7 rounders, as I have had no trouble out of them before, and blue to match the finish of my '91A1.

Thank you for the info. Last time I went to the range, I used 3 new mags with the colt .45 logo but no "little horsey" stamp and two of them broke. The base plate came off and the spring, follower and all the ammo came flying out the bottom. Don't trust anything but the real deal for carry anymore.

Last I knew, Colt "factory" 8-rounders were Shooting Stars.

I had 2 eight round shooting stars, and they didn't feed hollow points reliably in my gun. Come to think of it neither did the 2 eight round mec-gars that I bought. The seven rounders have never malfunctioned and I feel more comfortable with them. Any way Mr. Browning designed the gun for 7 round magazines if I remember correctly, most generally guns seem to do better in their original configurations.

from my understanding, Metalform does make Colt's mags, but the one's made for Colt are better than the one's that they market themselves.
Colt mags seems to come in large batches, then nothing for a while. (Feast or famine as it were)

The Metalform 7-shot with the round follower is a mighty fine mag, I use them for carry.
I don't see how they could make them any better on Colt contract and they sure don't send them the round follower.
Gil Hebard has them for much less money than Brownells or anybody else.

Grab a Shotgun News and look under Sarco. Colt factory mags for $14.95. Look closely, but they're in there. GI contractor mags for $8.95.

Thanks for all the info fellows, I do believe that I will go with the metalform seven rounders with the round followers. I need four new mags, and $26 a piece cuts into the new gun fund substancially. Since metaform makes factory mags anyway that route is a little more cost effective. Your time and replies have been appreciated.
