colt for competiton

724 5
I am looking into getting a colt for competition. there are a few i could possibly get, but what series should i look for? i'd like to modify it so take that into consideration. the guns are a few years old, but are in mint condition, sitting in my grandfather's safe. They are probably model 70s and i remember seeing mk iv on one of them. just throw out some ideas and thoughts for me. thanks

Also, i think i remember one saying Double Eagle on it.

If you're buying new for comp, the only way to go is the Special Combat. Tracy

The Double Eagle is a piece of Colt's history, their attempt to make a big-bore, DA service pistol. It didn't meet with much success, but it's not a bad gun. It would be suitable for USPSA/IPSC Production division, and IDPA Stock Service Pistol division.

Jim Watson,
Bullseye, bowling pins, speed and falling steel, IPSC, USPSA, IDPA. Virtually any of the shooting comps in stock gun categories. Tracy
