So I won a Colt Competition 01970CCS on GunBroker for $900. I wasn't looking to buy a Colt, but was comparing the SA Garrison to some comparable Colt models when I ran across the auction and it was sitting at $869 with about 7 hours left, so I bid it up to $900 just on a whim and I win it. So what do you think of the Colt Comp?
I was watching this one. Glad you picked it up and at a fair price! Caught me sleeping…lol

I bought a stainless Competition a couple years ago for my son’s Christmas. Shoot’s great and zero reliability issues. Really impressed with it. I’m looking for the blue version for myself sometime this year.
Enjoy it. And great price for yours too!

Well the range session went well, the pistol is definatly a shooter but still don't like the littel glitch in the trigger. I guess I'll be talikng to the sevice dept shortly since it's new. Or I just say screw it and have a trigger packeg installed. Don't care for the rear sight either but it works with good background lighting. Still have a lot to do it in the future.

Colt does things their way, the barrel is machined a little differently and there are the 2 recoil springs. A few other things also, The 2 recoil springs seems like a good idea. I've already replaced the trigger and did a trigger job on it. I really like it, shoots great!
@glider. I am not a Colt 1911expert, but I really like them. I recently acquired a previous owned Competition. Would you explain what is meant by "the barrel is machined a little differently"?

I like the dual recoil springs that are on some of the newer Colts. I hope to find replacements on hand.

The outside profile is a little different but not much and it doesn't affect anything. I probably shouldn't have mentioned it. The trigger in mine was really loose, up and down movement. The only way to fix that is a new oversized trigger fit to the gun which is what I did. I also fit the sear and hammer; it now has a 3 1/2 lb trigger with no over travel. very little pre travel and no creep. I really like the grey color and looks of the original trigger, too bad it didn't fit well.

So I sent the pistol back to Colt as there were just too many problems with it, trigger, slide lock, mag release, plunger tube, scratched bluing under the grips. They are giving up on making it right and are sending me all my money back include taxes and shipping. I'm happy with the end result and will never even look at a new Colt again! Gonna buy a Garrison with my refunded Colt money!

I had mine polished. Good trigger on this one but the safety doesn’t have that satisfying click when engaged. I can get it cleaned up on the inside one of these days. Doesn’t bother me now since it is a range gun.

Being a grip guy, and that is the best that you can do for that gem? 😣

I must have missed the third act. You initially said you liked the gun except for the trigger issue. I didn't copy was wrong with the slide "lock," mag release, and plunger tube???
