Colt M45A1

I really.like this one since I also served in the Marines 8 years before my Army career. I was a die hard 1911A1 Marine before the transition to the M9 which I hated. I rejoiced when the Marines returned to the M45A1. Anyway I had to get one and it's been with me ever since.

When I was at NRAAM Indy I hadn’t seen any M45A1s on display. Even though are available in catalog. I was too busy spending time with team Colt Williams sisters to inquire about M45A1 availability. I am actually heading in the direction of semi-custom route. My EDC M45A1 has set the bar high compared to my other 1911s and fantastic plastic. In which I offloaded to fund my newest adoption. Worst case is I sell my semi-custom for another M45A1. Or I put up my M45A1 to adopt another semi-custom, if it out classes the M45A1 in every way. Either way I’m coming out ahead.

0311 sounds like you have the situation well in hand.I plan on getting one of my old U.S..M.C. back from a buddy i sold 4 to. and buy a 45a1 ion bond model to keep it company.that is about it.
Semper-Fi and enjoy the 45's.
to think when i was in 1968/74 all i had was a WW2 Remington Rand.

OOHRAH!!! Ron your plan sounds outstanding. I would have rather had the Remington Rand from WWll than the Beretta I had back in 94-96. And unfortunately most of the others I was stationed with were Beretta humpers. I was the “Crusty Young Fart” lol. If I had the M45, would have made my life easier to obtain “expert”. My blue clamshell out of the box 6 small plates at 10yrds and one index card at 7 yards.
When I got to shot 7 split the card. 1 shot 1 kill. Gave that split card to my wife as a “Sweetest Day” present.
Beings we both are “Retired Firearms Instructors” she enjoys pulling both pieces of card out every once in a while. I have owned Taurus, S&W, & Kimber 1911s. None have been trouble free and dead nuts accurate as my M45A1.
In a few months I will do a head to head comparison between the M45A1 and the Les Baer Hemi 572. Running the Gauntlet of range / tactical drills to see which one comes out on top for this busted up arse Marine. I realize both are 2 different firearms. One mass produced almost like the ones us Marines were issued. And the other one it’s own “soul” by being hand built with its own differences. So far the Hemi has its work cut out. I will post updates as “Group Therapy” happens.

Will see how the bids go there are 6 of them on there now so should be lucky enough to at least get one. Will know by Monday since all but one will have ended by that time.RON K.

Hopefully some jackwagon doesn't bid up at least 1 auction. Every now and then Gunsinternational.com has M45A1 under $3,000. I lucked out on Gunjoker back in October on mine. Looked under Colt Government Custom. Page 3 had a Buy Now for $2,250. Was a no brainer as the others on Gunjoker were bid up to $3,000+. Best wishes on a decent price for you

There must be a market for Colt M1945A1's since Tisas is offering a clone of it for $750. It was the last Colt Service model produced and by most accounts one of the finest. Since the cerakote fiasco and Colt making the ionbond version for Marine issue, it's only a matter of time before the surplus is sent to CMP to dispose of them. Maybe years in the future the CMP auction site will list them. I count myself lucky to already have mine, and even plan to add a Tisas clone for giggles.

I know how you feel. These days if you can find one at a reasonable price, buy yourself a lottery ticket as well. I did and did not fare well with the lottery. At least now I can say the odds of finding a M45A1 at a reasonable price is better than winning the Lottery.👍

Lost the last 2 by a $100 bucks. Seems like they think they are bidding on a u.s.m.c. marked slide model.ha ha They are not, a few more to go in the next 7 days, I did get a chance to talk to 2 vendors. they each have 3 to sell. which means they must have shipped out a number of these late model end of 2022 and 2023 models. Which makes them a CZ COLT i think the last of the Colt /Colt went out around May/Jjune 2021 SO NOW WE HAVE Another variant to add on a ALL COLT and a CZCOLT MODEL. I already spoke to my buddy.about getting my ccs U.S.M.C. one back. Will still mess with getting a Ion Bond model. M45A1. RON K.

I hope you can get the U.S.M.C roll mark back. Sounds like another excuse to price gouge on the Colt/Colt vs the CZ/Colt. Or vice versa to those who believe Colt/Colt is lacking will get the same hosing.

should this thread be moved to the sticky? seems like there is getting to be some info that belongs there.
Info the site is full of it already....its just banter now.And what's come up since 2013. probably not much.Just added the Marine raider. to keep the U.S.M.C. Colt company,
I feel good value for the bucks. And many a Marine can now get one without a ton of cash going out. And they can handle fondle and shoot it.I ended up going to 10 places all out of stock. so picked up the last one on g.b.the guy had one left out of 3.So at this point they are not sitting around collecting dust.funny it took the Turks to get it done.RON K.

It is a shame a foreign own company gets it. But then again it just isn't just the Manufacturers hitting us in the shorts. More on that here in a min. If I was younger, this company would be hard to pass up. The customer service is top notch. Those people have the stones to make them selves accessible here. I haven't held one or shot one. I have no desire to own 10 cheap firearms and 2 safe queens. I'm running my M45A1 like a rented mule. And for now enjoying it.
It's a shame Gun shops pay around $1600 directly from Colt and jack the prices way up. I received that tidbit yesterday from a phone call to a out of state Firearms Dealer. Who claimed to be a TOP distributer for Les Baer. I was asking how much trade I could get for my M45A1 toward another Les Baer. And was told how much dealers pay for a new M45A1 from Colt. I then told him he could wait months for Colt or have mine in 3 days. I told him to contact me when he wasn't so proud of his Les Baers. As i was just as proud of my Colt M45A1 and the sales on GB, GI and Armslist prove just that.
I owned my own business with my wife. We were successful firearms instructors. We had to retire due to disabilities of both my wife and myself. We averaged 16hr days and then some. It was just too much. And all I can say is God has blessed my wife and myself.
I get the whole entramanure concept of my time should be worth something. However hosing my fellow American is NOT a decent way to make a living.

And It worked.
I own a number of Colt 1911’s.
I passed on the original USMC issue, bad decision.
The price gouging is not for me so I purchased a Tisas ‘Raider’.
As nice a 1911 as I have ever purchased in fit and finish!
So far it’s been 100% right out of the box.
I certainly would like a Colt USMC 1911.
Here are two priced at what many would consider ‘reasonable’!
Both require Money Order and have no Feedback!!!!
I think not.

I did very well with the initial Colt CQB acquisitions, but I wouldn’t be opposed to the Tisas Raider as an affordable alternative. I‘ve watched the videos on it. Own a Tisas Army copy too. Good guns.
yeah, there are some M45/CQB collectors that watch those GB auctions like a hawk and shoot up a flare when the fake auctions pop up on GB. if they can spot them, one would think GB could too.
I am too far along in my adopting. I am wondering if someone bought a Raider. Added the Everlast Dual-Spring set-up and added the handgrip screw o-rings. Wouldn't you have in theory a M45A1 for way under $1,000.
