[JIG BALLS]

i have a colt contract slide and was told they are very hard, can i blue this slide and get a nice bluing or will i get that red/plum color ? id like to use it to build a blued 1911 clone but if its to hard to get a good bluing on it i might make it a 1911a1 and keep it parkerized , this decision will affect which frame style i get , what do ya think ?

It should blue fine.
Actually, the WWII and before slides were softer than the post-war Colt commercial slides.

The "red" GI slides I've seen were all caused by improper temps in the bluing tank, or incorrect tank mix.
