Hey everyone,
I finished modifying the frame on my 1911A1 MKIV and need to refinish it. I know that there's a post about this in the forum right now, but I wanted to confirm my plan with those that know.
All modified surfaces have been smoothed progressively with up to 1500 grit paper.
I was planning on dipping the frame in a muriatic acid solution, then bead blasting with 17.5 micron Aluminum Oxide, then using a manganese-type parkerizing solution kit.
Is this finishing process compatible with Colt steel?
If anyone has an alternate DIY method that they think is more appropriate, I'd love to hear it.
