I HAVE RECENTLY ACQUIRED A COLT SATIN COMBAT COMMANDER. IT IS A 70-SERIES AND IS A 9MM. DOES ANYBODY KNOW IF THIS IS A RARE GUN. I CANNOT FIND A VALUE FOR IT IN THE BLUE BOOK. IT JUST SAYS THAT THE GUN IS SCARCE. I BOUGHT WITH THE INTENT OF SENDING IT TO DICK HEINIE AND HAVING WORK DONE ON IT FOR IDPA, BUT I AM HAVING SECOND THOUGHTS NOW. I HATE TO HAVE A COLLECTOR CUT ON.

Vintage/finish/caliber is enough reason not to customize this gun IMO. I'd hang on to it as is, and wait and pick up a new Commander (a fine gun in its own right) to have modified for carry purposes.

yep, if it is really nice, save it for the next generation to enjoy. Too many classics have been modified already.
