Colt Series 70 Slides

Does anyone know if these Colt slides (preferably Commander) are still avaiable? If so, from where and how much? It seems I heard something about them being available a year or two ago...Thanks.

You can still find slides at gun shows but Colt does not make them or have them in stock.
Sometimes I see some for sale in Shotgun News also.

I bought one off Ebay for 100 bux.
They are out there.
Does anyone have experience with the slides that Paten posted about? Are they OK?
John
They are quite nice, stripped slides, large Rollmark on the left and " Colt Competition " in small letters on the right. They were reported to be surplus from the old Colt Competion Shop when it closed down, or so it is said.

However the flats are not bright polished, but more "brushed" polished blue/black.

Interestingly, they are too tight on my 2 series 70 frames and would need fitting and very lose on the series 80 enhanced frames..... Hope this helps.

Here is my experience with these slides. http://www.1911forum.com/ubb/Archives/Archive-000002/HTML/20010125-8-000394.html They originally were supplied by Colt Competition ie... c-more although I have seen that cdnn investments has advertised them too The thread starts out talking about other Colt parts but read through it as I have a post on these slides.
Paten...I believe those are the ones. I will give them a call today. Thank you Sir. Best wishes, Hobbes

Glad I saw your post in time. I was almost going to call CDNN to get a slide, but forget that. Not worth the headaches just to make a counterfeit Colt. I'd rather put together a non-horsie gun that works. Thanks for the heads up.
ociebell: What kind of frame did you try to fit the Colt Comp. slide to? Was it a Colt frame? Thanks for the information...Hobbes

Oops! I'm sorry ociebell. At second glance I see that your frame was Caspian...Take care, Hobbes

I was pretty bummed over the whole deal. The slide itself was beautifully finished but it wasn't any good. The guy at Colt Competition mentioned taking a flex hone to the inside of it. But he didn't volunteer to do it and I didn't want to buy the hone. When company's start reimbursing me for shipping costs returning defective parts I'll do business with them. Shipped the slide to Colt Competition twice and Caspian once. Caspian didn't even charge me for finding out their frame was fine that was mighty nice of them. They'll always get my busines. Colt Competition refunded me the intitial cost that's it. I had to pay for the headache and doubt I'll ever buy another.
FWIW, I have fit up several of the Colt Competiton slides. All with BarSto barrels. One on a Series 70, two on CMC frames. Never had a problem. I like the slides enough to have bought several more for future projects. I too like the Colt logo and the seemingly good quality of the Colt CMC stuff. I suspect these are just 1991 slides with a different roll mark and no '80's cut. Finsh isn't great but it sure isn't a 1991 or something that can't easily be addressed.

Other's experiences seem to have differed.
Is that ad from an old catalog or what? I don't remember seein' it in the last 2?

It is from the current catalog, page 55. I trimmed it down so that it wouldn't cause the browser to scroll left to right. I also noticed in the current Shotgun News, that Kieslers Wholesale has the same slide available for $.99 less. What a deal!
