Just bought an ORM Compact stainless back from a buddy. Will a regular Commander top end (as I've found on ebay) be just a drop-in fit?
I thought if it was easy enough I might create my own "cco" . . . but a little voice tells me it won't be that easy.

if the compact is the same as an officers model which I think it is then you are good to go. I have an OACP and a commander and I do it and it is fine.

Good to hear. I was just concerned that perhaps tolerances were different; if I got a non-Colt slide or one from a different model line it wouldn't fit and would have to involve a gunsmith. If that were the case I'd rather sell off the compact and put that money toward a lightweight CCO.

I dont know about different manufacturers. I am talking colt. If in doubt always ask a gunsmith.

That makes sense. My preference would be to get a genuine Colt stainless upper to match my frame, and I'm in no hurry with that.
