I never had a .40 1911. I do have a S.S. Delta that has a .40 as a second barrel. Have only fired 300 rds. or so of .40 with no probs.. I've seen a few guys post here about wanting a .40 Colt so I thought I'd post this ad. Hope I'm not infringing on "no gun sales". Meant as only public service.

I too have heard of .40 Defender probs.. I would buy this gun and convert to 10mm, but I shot my gun money on a .38 super last week.

I don't think the .40 is a problem in the Government size, but believe there is/were problems in the Defender size guns. While it is hard enough to time extraction, ejection, and feeding in a .45 in a shortened recoil cylcle, the .40 presents even more problems.

Hey popeye...
My thoughts too (converting to 10mm). Looks like a sharp pistol. Just bought a Delta Elite, so I guess I'll have to pass. Thanks for the heads-up.

Sam

For any "collectors" out there- the Gov't Model in .40S&W is a REAL scarce piece. Very few made! Saw one in '92, none since. It should be worth a bunch of $ some day! Those SAA's look nice also-- good prices for today (Elmer Keith is probably spining in his grave- he thought Colt thumbusters were overpriced when they hit $125!).
