Sam Colt Fan's today post on wanting a reissue CCO in 2004 got me to thinking: I have a CCO that I paid $800 for about 12 months ago, probably more than I should have, even though its in excellent condition both function and appearance. It appears to be an XSE series CCO with all the features of that model as described in the "Blue Book", except that the slide sides finish is bright stainless with a brushed stainless finish on the top, rather than totally brushed stainless. Was the XSE series CCO produced in different sub versions, or could the slide finish have been specially modified to bright SS by Colt or others? Presumably, Colt production was limited to only 2000 for the one year it was produced, which normally wouldn't permit multiple versions. Understand that I'm not unhappy with the looks of this CCO, because its absolutely gorgeous. Just wanted to know if its been bastardized - or if my particular model is even more rare than the 2000 number would indicate. For reference, the serial number is LF1056XX. Thanks for any comments this forum can provide.

Here is a picture of a factory XS Officer & CCO. The XSE looks the same but with a downswept beaver and traditional Colt fixed sights. The front sight on the XSE is staked where as the XSE is dovetailed.
Regards,
Sam

Jack M...

Could you post a pic of your XSE CCO for us?

I've never seen one in that configuration before.

Sam's pics are pure porn aren't they? ;)

Don't know why Colt won't start making these fine carry pistols any more. Dan Wesson is tooling up to release a 70 series style CCO,but it's got that external extractor on it. :mummy:

BTW...I never pass up the opportunity to post a pic of my CCO. :D

Concealed Carry Officer - XSE Series

Well, I started this thread wondering about my bright stainless SLIDE, wondering if it was original. But looking at Sam's and Potthawg's photos, there's an exact match. So it seems that Blue Book is not entirely descriptive regarding the XSE CCO slide finish. However, I seem to have a shiny finish on my FRAME, while the two of you have a dull finish. I also have a 3-hole trigger (triangle type) and Colt rubber wraparound grips with their silver medalians depicting the rampant horse. Anybody else have a shiny frame finish, trigger, and grips like mine on their XSE COO? Sounds like I'm going paranoid on you - or perhaps a previous owner subsituted a different Colt officers model frame on this gun, one that's "shiny". Mine actually looks like its satin nickel.

I wish I could send a photo, but unfortunately I'm not that far into my development yet - but soon. Please be patient with me. I'd appreciate recomendations on a site explaining how to get set up.

Bob, that was a great photo of your Series 80 CCO. And the same on Sam's and Potthawg's XSE CCO photos. Thanks all for helping. Any thoughts on the different frame and the satin nickel?
